I had the opportunity to take Sigma’s new CINE series of High Speed Zoom lenses (18-35mm T2 and 50-100mm T2) for a test drive one afternoon in the hills of Hamilton, ON. I took them to one of my favourite waterfalls, Chedoke Falls, after a week of warm temperatures that quickly dropped to -10°C on the day of the shoot. These lenses feature identical optics to the more affordable Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 Art and 50-100mm f/1.8 Art, but offer a cinema style housing with a 120-degree focus throw as well as gearing on focus, iris and zoom.

The Video

The video was shot on the Sony A7R Mark II, at 4K 24p and graded with Lutify in Premiere.

The Photos

The still photos were shot on the Nikon D800 and Sigma 12-24mm DG HSM | Art lens.

Behind the Scenes

I used a Gitzo 3541LS Systematic tripod, a Manfrotto 504HD video head, and occasionally a Manfrotto slider.
